- Since 1950's, noted as "the greatest of all modern blues-singers"
- Inducted into the Rock-n-Roll Hall of fame in 1993
- Most Notable Songs:
- Tell Mama
- The Wallflower (Dance With Me Henry)
- Something’s Got a Hold On Me
- Don’t Cry, Baby
- I’d Rather Go Blind
- I Wish Someone Would Care
- All I Could Do Was Cry
- If I Can’t Have You
- My Dearest Darling
- At Last (many have tried, but few has conquered her sound)
Side Note: Etta was addicted to heroin most of her career, but overcame that battle and successfully cameback in the late 1970's. She also battled issues with her size and finally had surgery which helped her shed 200 pounds.
It's going to be quite interesting to see how Beyonce pull this one off. Hhhmmm...I wonder if she gain a some pounds for this role. Knowing Holloywood, they probably just put a fat suit on her.Peach Candy & Ugly Dudes
Video courtesy of: AllHipHop/YouTube
Rasheeda and Kandi took the words right out my mouth. Ugly dudes need money, swag, charisma, and a big d**k to get women. But that's cool. I've dated a few "not -so-cute" dudes in my day. They were nice and generous. I guess their looks was the reason...maybe. Oh well...do whateva you got to do my BROTHAS! LOL
I apologize...

GRAMMY RECAP: NAS...NIGGER

Nas and wifey, Kelis, hit the red carpet in nigger wear in effort to promote his upcoming album entitled, NIGGER. Go head Nasir!!! and big ups to Kelis a.k.a The Flyest Chick In The Game... for holding her man down.
Nas explained the reason behind the album title to a reporter. "Being a nigger doesn't just mean being Black anymore, it stand for all of us"... (whites, blacks, hispanics, etc). This is so true.

SUSPECT @ Hood Wedding

- Check out the grills. One has two chicken wings on it and the other got at least 8 wings on it. Did he run out of charcoals (from looks of the empty bag on the ground)? Or did the coals on the "two-wing" grill stop burning? I can't quite figure it out. But from the looks of his big GRIN, ole Uncle Junebug may have already chomped down those missing wings.
- Why does Uncle Junebug got that ole "I just got out of jail free" card looking smile on his face?
- Why is that garbage bag hanging from the air conditioner cage? He would've been better off just leaving that bag on the ground.
- Ok now if this is a wedding, a hood ceremony that is, why is Junebug the musical director and cook? Why is that jukebox and speakers sitting on the table with the food ...anyway???
- And last but not least, why o why is Junebug sitting that close to the grill? I wouldn't want his nuts that close to my food. Can he even breathe with that smoke that close?
This is just pure foolishness. And this pic ain't the half, check out the others at http://crunktastical.blogspot.com/2008/02/you-sent-it-project-wedding.html .
Notable Blacks: BILLIE HOLIDAY

Born April 7, 1915 in Baltimore, Eleanora Fagan marked her spot in history as one of the greatest jazz singers of all time. In her younger years and without any formal vocal training, Eleanora developed her talent by singing at after-hour jazz clubs (night after night) which gave her the opportunity to sing alongside recordings by Bette Smith and Louis Armstrong. Eventually, her mother moved to New York to look for work and Eleanora went right along. It was in New York that Eleanora borrowed the name Billie from a screen actor name Billie Dove and began performing at seedy nightclubs in Harlem. At the age of 18, Billie Holiday was spotted by a John Hammond and recorded her first record with Benny Goodman.
During the 1930's, Billie went on to record over 100 songs and several albums. But it wasn't until 1939, that her song "Strange Fruit" captured the attention of her "real" audience. Not only did Strange Fruit reveal the harsh realities of racism, but songs like "God Bless The Child" and "Gloomy Sunday" showcased just how much pain Billie lived in day to day. Once one of the highest paid entertainers of her time, much of her income went toward her drug addiction.
Plagued by health problems, bad relationships, and addiction, Lady Day spent most of the 1940's and 1950's witnessing the death of her mother and close friends all while spiralling out of control from alcohol and heroin abuse. Billie Holiday died at the age of 44, on July, 17, 1959.

SUSPECT @ Rick Ross B-day Party

I figure this photo could be the first of many funny snapshots I find on the internet of unknowns doing the most "suspect" of things.
Earlier this week at Rick Ross's birthday celebration in Miami, this guy, "The Unknown", becomes my first victim. I'm wondering what is it that he's really looking at. Was he looking at Rick's big a** on the sly? Or was he looking at Richie Rich's (the little white kid. His father supposibly owns most of all the major mall and outlet mall complexes in the southeast...hence the name Richie Rich.) a** on the low? Or was he tired of dancing (check out the sweat on his shirt) and decided to take a 3 minute nap right on the dance floor? LOL
I don't what he was looking at, quite frankly, but he sure look SUSPECT !!!
Hood Fab-u-los-ity

Oh and girlfriend...that foundation is not Kim's color. See in the first pic, that color doesn't even photograph well from afar. But I do commend her for stepping up her make-up game though.
